Today we are going to talk about one of our favourites bands, Green Day. Green day in an American punk rock band formed in 1987 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt.
The actual members are: Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar and voice), Mike Dirnt (bass and vocals), Tré Cool (drums) and Jason White (electric guitar and vocals).

History: Everything begins in 1982 when Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt were 10 years old boys from California, they meet and make good friends. They have things in common, like punk rock bands in California. They call the dummer John Kiffmeyer and the bassist Sean Hughes to originate a band called Sweet Children. At first Armstrong and Dirnt were the guitarist. They first concert was on October 17, 1987. In 1988 Sean left the band.
Recording contract with Lookout!
The first material that was published titled EP 1,000 Hours, in 1989. Shortly before releasing the EP, the band decided to abandon the name Sweet Children to switch to Green Day, to avoid confusion with another local group called Sweet Baby.
This is only a little part of the history of this amazing band.

Facts:
- Armstrong called his first guitar ''Blue''
- Tré Cool attended a clown school before joining the band.
- All the members of the band have tatoos.
- Mike Pritchard obtained nickname "Drint" at school, when his hobby was to play "air-bass." He sang "dirnt, dirnt, dirnt" when he played the invisible strings.
- Says that in 1995 Billie Joe considered leaving the band
- Tré is the godfather of Billie's sons.
- Billie suffer from panic attacks
- During the funeral of Billie's father, he ran away and locked himself in his room. When his mother came to see him, he just said ''Wake me up when September ends'' (the name of one if their songs)
Our favourites are: Stray Heart because it makes us feel lively and the lyrics are very good. Also we like so much the song Wake me up when September ends because this song has a very special meaning for the band and the lyrics are amazing.
We love this band because obviously their songs are very good but there is somethings more. The members of Green Day are our idols, our role models, our inspiration, they motivate us to move on and be who we are.
